What Should I Bring to Residential Treatment? 

All items will be thoroughly searched by staff. Clients are encouraged to have their ride wait until all items have been searched before leaving so they can take any items that are not permitted.

Clients being admitted for treatment may bring:

  • 7 shirts
  • 7 pairs of pants or shorts
  • 7 pairs of underwear and socks
  • Up to 2 outerwear items (hooded sweatshirts and/or jackets)
  • 2 pairs of shoes, as well as shower shoes and slippers
  • 2 sets of pajamas
  • Prescribed medications
  • Cigarettes (closed packs only)
  • Soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, razors, shaving cream, and lotion
  • Hair brush and tooth brush
  • Treatment-related or spiritual/inspirational reading material only
  • Stamps and envelopes
  • Journal/notebook with pens
  • Hats/sunglasses (may be worn outside only)

Clients are not permitted to bring:

  • Lighters and matches
  • Luggage
  • Purses/wallets
  • Cell phones
  • Jewelry including any body piercings
  • Bobby pins
  • Nail files and nail clippers
  • Makeup or lotion containing tanning cream
  • Food, snacks, or gum of any kind
  • Aerosol canned hair products
  • Mouthwash
  • Pain reliever, vitamins, any unmarked medications or medications not prescribed to client (ALL medications MUST be approved by admissions and/or nursing staff)
  • Electronic devices such as radios, iPods, iPads/e-tablets, curling irons, electric shavers, straighteners, clippers or blow dryers
  • Shirts revealing midriff
  • Short shorts. All shorts must reach the client’s fingertips when arms are in a straightened position
  • Tight clothing
  • Clothing portraying alcohol or drug logos
  • Thong underwear
  • Perfume
  • Talcum or baby powder
  • Lotion containing tanning bronzer
  • Reading material that is not related to treatment or spiritual/inspirational topics
  • Stuffed animals
  • Blankets/pillows
  • Towels
  • Weapons of any kind

All items brought in should be brought in a large plastic bag. Luggage is not permitted into the treatment facility.
