Maryville Integrated Care has developed programming specifically designed to support our LGBTQIA+ clients as they heal from addiction, trauma, and mental health challenges.
The Value of Integrated Care
Despite the ongoing fight to gain equal rights, many LGBTQIA+ people still encounter daily challenges, including prejudice and bias. These experiences can leave lasting emotional scars, often contributing to mental health conditions and substance use disorders. Common struggles include:
- Rejection by family and loved ones after coming out
- Bullying, harassment, or violence
- Denial of job opportunities or fair housing
- Internal conflicts about your identity and self-worth
- Hiding your true self
The chronic stress of belonging to a marginalized community can lead to anxiety, depression, PTSD, and even suicidal thoughts. Some people turn to drugs or alcohol to cope, but this often deepens the pain and creates new problems.
How Maryville Uplifts LGBTQIA+ Clients
We believe everyone deserves access to respectful, judgment-free care, and we tailor our approach to meet our LGBTQIA+ clients’ unique needs. Our Turnersville outpatient location – accessible in person and via telehealth – is a welcoming place with an LGBTQIA+ program led by queer and trans professionals who understand what you’re going through.
Here’s what you can expect from our inclusive programming.
One-on-One and Group Therapy
Talking about your experiences with someone who understands makes a difference. Our therapists will help you explore your identity, relationships, and recovery goals in a space where you’ll feel respected and heard.
Integrated Mental Health and Medication Services
Many LGBTQIA+ people live with addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions. Our team includes a licensed psychiatric nurse practitioner who can assess your mental health needs and develop a personalized treatment strategy. If medication is part of your recovery plan, we’ll provide careful monitoring and guidance. We also offer medication-assisted treatment to reduce cravings.
Support from Someone Who’s Been There
Recovery is easier when you’re not doing it alone. Our LGBTQIA+-identifying peer mentors walk alongside you – offering guidance, encouragement, and help with everyday challenges like accessing housing or healthcare. They’ve overcome similar hurdles and are here to clear a pathway for you.
LGBTQIA+ Community Connections
Healing is easier when you feel like you belong. Our resources can make a vast difference in your recovery.
- Monthly social events for LGBTQIA+ clients
- Referrals to affirming health providers
- Connections with local LGBTQIA+ organizations
