A. Bennet Conway, a practicing Roman Catholic
priest, founded Maryville in 1949...
Originally, Maryville provided care and treatment for alcoholic men, free
of charge. Maryville remained completely self-supporting until the 1970's,
at which time contracts were established with the state, several counties,
and the United Way. Maryville became non- sectarian at this time as well.
Maryville has evolved into a modern, structured treatment program, earning
its reputation of providing high-quality, low-cost care. Current services provided include:
Residential Rehabilitation for adult substance abusers, MICA (mentally
ill chemical abusers), and Sub-acute Detoxification at our residential
site in Williamstown. Detoxification services were added as a result of
the natural tendency of clients understating their need for detox out
of desperation to get into a residential program. It became much easier,
more responsible, and more efficacious to provide Sub-acute Level Detox
on site than to refer clients to a hospital-based detox, if one could
be found, or to the street to self-detox, and then re-admit them for residential
treatment. Additionally, Maryville operates outpatient services throughout
Southern New Jersey, which offer intensive outpatient services and other
outpatient levels of care. Our residential and outpatient centers are
fully bilingual. Maryville also operates an Intoxicated Driver's Resource
Center.
A peaceful, natural environment:
Maryville's 40-acre residential facility is located in rural Gloucester
County, New Jersey. We offer patients a peaceful, natural environment
conducive to the full recovery of body, mind and spirit.
Maryville, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not for profit charitable organization
